We had an amazing time participating in The Project for Sydney Indesign this year. Mafi floors are handmade exclusively in Austria so we took the opportunity to bring the Austrian Alps to our Warehouse and Head Office in Alexandria. Designed by students from Billy Blue College of Design, the concept invited visitors to click the release button on their ski’s after a long day on the slopes and unwind at the Mafi X Billy Blue College of Design Health and Ski Chalet.
The two day event consisted of free health spa massages, Austrian fare, feasting tables, drinks, a place to unwind around the Eco-Smart Fire, an outdoor cinema, DJ and much more.
With an emphasis on healthy interiors, the idea was to inform and educate visitors on the benefits of natural oiled wood floors. Mafi are partnered with the National Asthma Council of Australia as being a Sensitive Choice product for those who suffer from symptoms of Asthma and allergy.
Health isn’t just about what you put into your body, it’s about the products you use and surround yourself with everyday. Selecting building materials and finishes that are free from toxins and harmful chemicals is the first step to creating a healthy living and working environment. Mafi natural oiled wood floors are 100% natural and chemical free promoting indoor air quality.
The SID LiveLife seminar on Friday afternoon was a great success. The topic was Talking About Your Generation: Intergenerational Cohabiting and Residential Design. Speakers included Diane Jones, PTW; Eugene Marchese, Marchese Partners International; Janne Ryan, ABC; Rasmus Frisk, Arki_lab.
We had a lucky door prize giveaway offering a pair of our 100% Mafi wool slippers and two bottles of Austrian Wine generously gifted by our special guest Marjolein Coonen from the Austrian Trade Commission.
Attendees were invited up to the Mafi VIP room where they had the opportunity to view the entire Mafi range, take away samples and discuss their projects with our friendly and committed team members.
On the Friday night Mafi hosted an Après Ski Party for SID Up Late with a silent outdoor cinema, DJ and dance floor.
A very special thank you to the wonderful students from Billy Blue College of Design who worked so tirelessly to design and execute such a beautiful event. The feasting table was an eye catcher with a carefully curated selection of mafi timbers, Dinosaur Designs vases and blooms by Natasha Pitkanen Floristry. Not to mention the delicious assortment of cheese and nibbles.
The large table itself was made from stacks of our Kebony sustainable decking which gave visitors the opportunity to touch and interact with the product whilst grazing.
Pete on the Frankfurt Cart, thank you! What a legend, what a chef.
